Hatha is often translated as "ha" meaning sun and "tha" meaning moon. Hatha yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting the opposites within ourselves. Hatha is a general term that includes all yoga styles. It is a system that includes the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), which help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation. There is a strong focus on alignment often working towards a peak pose, practised more slowly and with more static posture holds than perhaps a Vinyasa flow or Ashtanga class to create strength and flexibility. This class is open to students of all levels.
